📌 On Tuesday 12, December, 2023, in Gevgelija, Republic of North Macedonia, a press conference and a presentation to the public about the implementation of the project were held in the framework of the closure of the EU Interreg-IPA CBC Flood Shield Project.
The project partners, users and expert team from the Ministry of the Environment and Physical Planning / Ministry of Environment Jetësor and PH (PP3) and the Directorate for Protection and Rescue (PP4) had their own statements.
➡️ The project manager, Mr. Ylber Mirta, the project expert, Mr. Kiro Macheski, and the director of the Directorate for Protection and Rescue, Mr. Bekim Maksuti, shared their knowledge about the goals and the achieved results of the project:
➡️ They discussed the results of the FLOOD SHIELD project and its contribution to joint flood risk management in the cross-border area Axios/Vardar.
➡️ They discussed the development of the incident management platform and the cooperation of the civil protection project and other stakeholders for training, preparation and response in case of floods.
➡️ The flood early warning system developed by the project was presented.
➡️ They met about the risks of flooding and mapping vulnerable places in the cross-border area of Axios/Vardar, including Gevgelija and Demir Kapija, where new measuring stations that measure the water level and water temperature were installed, and they were also visited later in the day.
➡️ They presented a flood response strategy in the cross-border region of Axios/Vardar.
